Ascent Trip ReportPrevious reports give sufficient directions. The boulder is still covered in graffiti, but Whitman's poem remains unmarked. We walked up what appears to be a recently paved road past the water tank to get to the monument. Of note to future visitors, the road was gated right at Ridge Road, but parking on Ridge Road seems to be tolerated. We were not the only visitors this day, as two other cars were parked on Ridge Road and we saw two people coming down Reservoir Road as we headed up. The area off of Sweet Hollow road may or may not be higher than the official highest point of Long Island. Again, without precise survey equipment, who knows?
