Ascent of Baring Mountain on 2013-12-14
|Date:||Saturday, December 14, 2013|
|Ascent Type:||Unsuccessful - Turned Back|
| Elevation:||4681 ft / 1426 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThe conditions are still pretty terrible. The ascent up to the ridge is miserable with just a few inches of steep slushy snow makes for a slick slog. When you leave the TH up the old road, you see a wide runout which seems like the obvious gully you're supposed to take, but it's not. Just another 10 yards is the real gully which is narrow and still has a stream. Enter the woods just before the narrow, rocky gully. There are plenty of multi-colored ribbon to lead you up the bootpath which is now barely detectable. The GPS tracks are our descent and follow all of the trail markings. Wait for more snow!
