Ascent Trip Report

On this my 50th MA Highest Summit, I enjoyed a last clear, if cold sunny day before an in-coming weather of wet snow. A great final tramp to an awesome view east across valley below to a long stretching horizon, Plantain Pond below, Round Mtn nearby and quite so an upthrust forested oval. Wack was tougher going up than expected, meandering game trails helped some with rhododendron thickets a horror which almost cost me my (almost forgotten) view. Summit seems like rocky clearings caught up in a mass of thicket. I lunched, enjoyed view (near an apparently old fire ring), and was in sunny warmth sitting on my gloves. On descent, tried following game trail (keeping within waypoint reach) which detoured south of my original path to col watering hole and stream beyond taking me thru less thicket more quickly and easily (tho ripped new pants) then returning to my original bushwack along and beyond stream to easy stepping trails.
