Ascent Trip Report

I accessed Breckenridge Mtn from the west using Breckenridge Road from the small settlement of Edison. This is a long windy drive and gains lots of elevation. There was snow on the road before I got to the turnoff to the lookout. It is another 5 miles to the turnoff and thankfully the snow cover was not deep. I slowly crept up the road getting closer to my goal and finally stopped where another vehicle was parked just below the high point. I thought there must be a reason he was parked there, so I parked too and hiked the last bit to the high point. I visited both the rocks near the fire lookout and then the high point where the comm towers are located. I walked all around the fence line at the comm towers to find the highest point. This is a nice area in the forest and worth the drive. Just beware that the snow can block the roads early in the season.
