Ascent Trip Report

My third ascent of The Cheviot and the first time I've had a view, although the main purpose of the walk was to maintain some of my summer fitness and tick off a nearby historic County Top and two HEWITTs.

Parked at Langleeford as usual. A clockwise ascent of Hedgehope Hill, Comb Fell, Cairn Hill, Hangingstone Hill, Auchope Cairn and The Cheviot. The cloud level was fluctuating around 750 metres when I arrived, thus I reversed my original plan to climb The Cheviot first. Fortunately my tactic worked and despite a generally worsening forecast the cloud did lift the magic 100 metres over the day to enable some great views, particularly from Auchope Cairn. Very very windy but no rain despite 90% cloud cover. I love the Cheviots during the week, only one other walker seen all day!
