Ascent Trip Report

I took the Zealand Trail, Twinway, and Bondcliff Trails over Mt. Guyot, Mt. Bond, and turned around once I reached Bondcliff. I reversed the route back to my starting point. I also made short side trips to Mt. Zealand, Guyot Campsite and West Bond. Total distance was about 20 miles.

I climbed Bondcliff last March, and the conditions were about as close to polar opposite as you can get. On that day six months ago, I broke trail on showshoes through a foot of powder, coming up the Bondcliff Trail from the south, and arrived at the summit in white-out conditions. The wind nearly knocked me over, and I was constantly pelted with chunks of ice. Fast forward to today, and it was sunny, pleasantly warm, and hardly a hint of a breeze above treeline. I lingered at the summit of Bondcliff for quite a while. I would have stayed even longer, but it was almost 10 miles back to the Zealand trailhead, so I had to move on.
