Ascent Trip ReportAfter not getting permission for four other plans we arrived at the park with, we settled on trying Vulture from the east. We knew the days were probably too short for us and, sure enough, we retreated about 1,600' from the summit. The useful information I can report is that the trail from Kootenai Pass up on to West Flattop Mountain is still intact and in pretty good shape. My Garmin Etrex 30 did not track very well (5 points in 0.34 miles though set for 105 feet intervals) on the steep, brushy trail that does exist (see GPS route: Kootenai Pass to camp) but the trail is about 200' north of where it shows on the Garmin maps and well worth finding. We summited Trapper just before dark on the return to camp.
