Ascent Trip Report

Started this ascent during midday from the cablecar. Took a left into military ruins about 100 meters soth from the cablecar exit. Climbed the crest as much as possible until i reached O'Hara Battery. Was a decent scramble made dangerous by all the spiked plantlife. Had to switch to longpants and jacked and still had issues with the backpack getting snagged along the way. There is a metal pipe for guidance once in a while but it's often overrun and you have to climb higher than it is to avoid vegetation. The barbed fence to the battery was knocked down from the crest ascent path. From there it was a trivial hike to the water pump, though i advise caution climbing the water pump itself due to the rickety ladder. Once up, you're at the real summit of The Rock, both natural and manmade.

The harder issue was getting down. The gate was closed and a thick serving of barbed wire fence stopped you if you wanted to get around. Had to jump thay, but got spiked in one hand with barbed wire. Caution if you're doing that. The rest was a trivial walk back to the cablecar.
