Ascent Trip Report

Original goal was to do Belford, Oxford and Missouri. Got up at 5 a.m., much too late to even think about adding Missouri. Was on the trail at 5:30 a.m. but did not reach the summit of Belford until 9:30 a.m. Was doing well under 1 mph. Was out of shape and hypoxic. Noticed swollen hands and slowed speech near and on summit of Belford. Clouds were building. Given my slowness and tiredness and my worry about thunder storms, I opted to not go for Mt. Oxford. Was overly cautious. Turned out to be the wrong decision as it never stormed. I did get to enjoy the wildlife in the mountain meadow just under the switchbacks. Saw lots of pika and as fat marmot in the sun. Got back to my vehicle around 1:30. Slow for a roughly 6 mile round trip.
