Ascent Trip ReportHit the trail head around 10:30am and started making our way up. Temperatures were very pleasant in the 60s. The first .5 or so miles of the Edmunds trail were very easy, but soon after the trail became a much more steady, moderate climb. For a good portion of an hour it felt that we were making up some good elevation gain. This was one of the first hikes where our 9-10 year old boys were making us older guys look/feel a little out of shape! We kept waiting for a little relief in the trail and ultimately it came as got closer to the junction with the Eisenhower loop trail. As we came out of the trees we were met with an increase in wind and drop in temperatures causing us to pull out our jackets/hoods. We took a right on the Eisenhower loop and made our way up to the summit on the last .4 mile portion. This section started off a little steep but quickly turned in to a relatively gradual incline to the summit. Very windy/colder up there for a mid-august day. We stayed a couple minutes and then made our way down to some windblock to eat lunch.
Overall a great hike with amazing views. Highly recommended for a quick peak bag for those not doing the traverse.
