Ascent Trip ReportI pulled into the driveway at 208 Anderson Road in Broome, NY and was immediately greeted by two barking dogs. They were friendly, and helpfully alerted the homeowner to my presence. I tried to explain to her why I was there and what a benchmark was, but she didn't seem to care and just granted me permission.
Follow their driveway to the barn behind their house. At the front corner of the barn, take a 90 degree right turn, wade through some tall plants and walk about 30 yards into the woods. There will be a rock wall here running north. About 30 yards after you pick up the wall, you will see the witness post and locate the benchmark at the highest point of East Hill. Should take less than 5 minutes, but I missed the rock wall and just wandered around in the gathering dusk, looking for the highest ground at first. A closer look at the map and resetting my bearings from the barn did the trick. Took me 15 minutes total.
