|Date:||Saturday, August 3, 2013|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||5268 ft / 1605 m|
Ascent Trip ReportHad to wait one extra day for the rain to clear out. Hiked from Abol Bridge Campground (left at 5:30am) on the Blueberry Ledges Trail 4.2 miles to Katahdin Stream Campground (Arrived 7:30am). Then hiked the Hunt Trail to Baxter Peak and arrived at 12:10pm. Had pic taken at AT Sign, sat down to eat and started to hail/rainstorm. Left summit and arrived back down at the Katahdin Stream Campground at 4pm. Encountered 40-50mph wind on the exposed ridge climbing down. Hiked the AT back to Abol Bridge Campground and arrived back at 7:45pm. Weather cleared once in the treeline. This was a climb not a hike, everything they say about it being difficult is true. It will take you as long to get down as it did going up.
