Ascent Trip Report

Casual overnight via Mineral Creek TH, just the dogs and I. Saturday morning left the TH at 8:15, carried my overnight gear to the summit block with hopes of camping up high, plenty of water on the saddle. Made the summit at 1:45 (5.5 hours). Dogs only really needed help on the vertical step near the top. Saw two day hikers on the summit who came in via Snoqualmie Pass on the PCT, about 5 more miles each way vs. Mineral Cr. The trail was a little overgrown, but I expected worse, both major water crossings were very easy as well.

Decided to camp on the knob just above the tarn above Glacier Lake. Windy... yes! I was up all night holding my 4 season tent poles so they wouldn't snap, that extra 10 miles on the PCT sounded like a brilliant idea at 3:30am after no sleep and the 638th wind gust making my tent bend in all sorts of interesting directions.

But, things calmed down around 4:30, slept for an hour or two, then headed home. Bumped into Tom G., John L. and Randy S. at the tarn on Sunday morning, also on a two day version. Made it from Glacier Lake to the TH in under 3 hours. Would most likely do it as a day trip next time. Glacier Lake looked like a beautiful place to camp though, hanging waterfall and all.
