Ascent Trip Report

I drove to the top of Mt Harris from La Grande. It is about a 20 mile drive and the last 5 miles is rough in spots and high clearance is recommended. I drove Hwy 82 north out of La Grande towards Enterprise. In about 6 miles I turned right on signed Market Lane. Zero your odometer and at 5.7 miles I turned left on Grays Corner Road/Indian Creek Road. At 7.1 miles turn right, at 9.8 miles take the left fork onto a rougher road, at 12.7 miles turn left onto a still rougher road, and at 14.3 miles take the left fork. At 14.7 miles there is a place to park and avoid a 4WD section going up the last .1 mile. I drove up to the fire lookout and comm buildings.

The summit has several large rock/boulder outcroppings and I climbed a couple of them trying to determine which one was highest. I found one with an electrical power cable crossing and fastened to it. I think it was the highest. It is a short Class 3 scramble to the top and out to the highest point. Views aren't very good.
