Ascent Trip Report

Oddly, I happened to be staying at the Hampton Inn at the base of the peak through sheer happenstance. Not often that you find yourself within a mile of a Western COHP by luck. After fueling up at Carl's Jr, I proceeded up Iron Point. Here, I made a few navigational errors due to an inability to drive, navigate and consume tacos simultaneously. After I resolved that, I went L on Carpenter Hill and then L on Branding Iron. Parked in the culdesac. Contoured clockwise around the black gate guarding the water tower. Then along the gravel road to the highest bump. The benchmark can be seen and I do believe it is the highest natural rock. Natural being not entirely clear. But I did my duty and walked around all of the tower fence complexes and then bailed. Hot. Access really is not a problem but someday this mtn will be surrounded completely by homes. They are already creeping up the hill on the W slope too. Could always scamper up from Iron Point. Whatever. It was a cozy dumpster to dive in if you happen to be in Folsom for two weeks.
