Ascent Trip Report

Came up via Vivian Creek. Note for those that are not from this area: Wilderness Pass required. You get them from the Mill Creek Ranger Station on the west side of the mountain and quotas do fill up in the summer. Google the ranger station, wilderness pass, and San G for specifics (do not have to get in person). Also need the daily use or an annual use/Adventure Pass for the Trailhead use/parking.

Otherwise, nice hike. First 1000ft coming off Vivian Creek was a beast of a grind, but the slope became more gradual after that. There are three water sources (last one was High Camp @ 9100 ft) on this trail and they all still had good flow this late in the summer). I went up with 116 ozs of water, never refilled, and still had some left over from the hike (I do believe that the cloud cover / moderated temps assisted with this). A rather strong rainstorm that moved in from Big Bear (and hit out of nowhere) made the summit quite memorable for many that day. Don't forget your rain jacket...
