Ascent Trip Report

Despite starting out at 6:15 am, it was already 65 degrees and 100% humidity which made for a hot & sweaty. Used the Signal Ridge trail today. This is the gentlest 4000'er trail I've hiked in a long time. The gentleness was good fortune on the descent as I was dealing with the return of my nemesis - bad knee pain. It wasn't as bad as some episodes this past winter, but it was the worst since then. Luckily, there are few rough areas on the trail to deal with. I really loved the part of the hike that went along the stream - it was really beautiful today. It was sunny going up and sunny coming down, but alas, the summit was socked in when I got there. There were some views from Signal Ridge, but as I was standing on the viewing platform at the summit, I knew this was probably one of the nicest views in the whites, but it looked like the inside of a ping pong ball to me. A little bummed, but view is secondary to the hike for me.
