Ascent Trip Report

Michael and I arrived at the Starr King trailhead at 2 AM. We slept in the car to prepare for an early rise -- 6 AM, aughhh! A group pulled into the parking lot about 6:15 AM. Only got about 4 hours of sleep in the car. We got up and started to pack and eat breakfast--Michael made pancakes. The other person --Kevin Buckley arrived soon after and we set off to the Unknown Pond trailhead after leaving his car. Our trip plan was to do a short bushwhack to Unknown peak, The Bulge, The Horn and finally Mt. Cabot for the first day of a two day backpacking trip. It was a decent day with mild tempertures and partly cloudy skies. Kevin was a pretty quick uphill climber. I was off to a slow start--my pack was heavy, should have only packed enough water for one day, but had enough for two. Michael was nice enough to take my tent and carry his own stuff inlcuding group gear.
