Ascent of Silver Star Mountain on 2013-07-07
|Date:||Sunday, July 7, 2013|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
|Peak:||Silver Star Mountain|
| Elevation:||8876 ft / 2705 m|
Ascent Trip ReportNo crampons necessary on glacier. Top layer of snow was soft. Maybe need crampons in August. No rope/harness for glacier. No signs of crevasse danger. Killer mosquitoes on ascent until the col. Slept at the bench at 6600ft along trail. Big nice flat camp spot. The col is a small bivy spot that fills quickly with fast/early wine spires climbers (very cold, windy, small) Very doable in one-day, makes for a leisurely 2-day trip. No snow until col. No snow on summit pyramid. Fairly noticeable climbers trail from parking turnout until col. Dry/dusty all the way to Burgundy Col. Start at northern-most end of turnout. Fun, easy climb!
