Ascent Trip ReportCamped just above 10,000', thanks to a convenient ride from a Chevy Blazer. Hit the trail at 4:30 AM, Lake Como at 6:10, started the SW Ridge/Hourglass route at 6:20 AM, summited at 8:20. Two hours for 1.1 miles! There was water flowing down the hourglass, and the fixed line had been severed about 40' above the crux, so I had to free climb up and down through the cold water. Used what was left of the rope a bit once I was above, but on the whole, the route wasn't as scary as I expected. Great summit views! Headed back the way I came, and was back on the 4WD road at 10:20 after relaxing, snacking, signing in, and taking pictures on the summit for 15 mins. Took a stroll up the valley to scout out Blanca and Ellingwood Point - made it to 13,300', but I didn't have the strength to make a summit bid. I'll go for those tomorrow.
