Ascent Trip Report

Dippikill is a wilderness retreat owned and operated by the Student Association of the University at Albany, day use is free ending at sundown with sign-in at the office upon arrival. I found the true summit to be at 43.57510, -73.87757 up higher and a good piece west of the PB coordinates. The Ridge Trail beyond reaches to a couple of fine viewpoints south and east to the Hudson River and from the Spur Trail's Overlook (some of the season's first blueberries here) to lengths of white water rapids. The 1553 elevation on the topo map is the true height of land (going back & forth to ascertain), while the 1582 elevation is the first more limited outlook and more importantly a left turn to follow in an otherwise well blazed trail, following the ledge rock northerly and easily down leads to a yellow blazed wooded opening easterly to re-indicate the trail's way again and Spur Trail Jct not too further along. The Valley Trail back to Camp Dippikill and TH went past a very busy Campsite and Pond with me the only hiker up high, all-in-all nice jogging trails!
