Ascent Trip ReportClimbed with the annual Breast Cancer Fund Climb Against the Odds group led by Shasta Mountain Guides. We left from Bunny Flat and camped at Hidden Valley. We encountered bad weather on what was supposed to be our summit morning, so we pushed back our ascent by a day and set off at 12am thursday morning. We reached summit around 8:30 am. The ascent was extremely cold - my water and snacks froze. I started experiencing altitude sickness around ~12500 ft. and it got worse as we got higher. The worst / most technical part of the route we took was the top of the west face. After that point all you have to do is keep putting one foot in front of the other, but misery hill lives up to it's name and the snow flats just below summit are seemingly endless. The view from the top was worth it, nothing nearby comes anywhere close to the height of Shasta; just beautiful.
