Ascent Trip ReportThe BLM through the Clear Creek Management Area has issued an "Emergency Closure" of roads in the San Benito Mountain area because of asbestos health issues left over from the previous mining in that area, effective May of 2008. As no one seemed to be around I effectively stealthed up to the summit with at least a 12 mile round trip hike, but there are lots of signs threatening a hefty fine if caught.
