Ascent Trip Report

On OR-206 in Moro, I turned NW on 4th Street up a steep hill. Zero or note your odometer here. At 0.5 miles the road turns 45° L and heads due W. At 0.9 mile the road turns R and becomes Van Gilder Rd. At 3.3 miles, just before the road tops out on the crest of Gordon Ridge, I turned L (W) on Gordon Ridge Rd, which is well-graded gravel. At 4.3 miles the road tops out at a radio facility. There are at least three benchmarks in the vicinity: two on the W side and one on the E side. The highest ground is in a notch in the left rear (SE) corner of the fence around the facility.

I left the area by continuing N on Van Gilder Rd to OR-206. For a person approaching from the NW, the directions would be as follows. On OR-206 3 miles W of Wasco, turn S on Van Gilder. Zero or note your odometer here. At 4.4 miles, the road begins to run parallel to a set of power lines. At 4.9 miles the road passes under the power lines near a sharp turn in the power lines. At 5.3 miles, make the aforementioned turn W on Gordon Ridge Rd.
