Ascent Trip ReportWith people from FousDeRando.com. Julie (Matin Soleil), Sylvia and Rejean (RelTheEdge).Park at Lincoln Woods Visitor Center, the suspension bridge, Lincoln Woods trail to Franconia Brook trail, then Lincoln Brook trail. The Franconia Brook was difficult to cross with water level at thigh, strong current and large stream to cross, had to take off the boots. 2 more water crosses in that fashion with the Lincoln Brook. 3 additional crossing of the Lincoln brook required that are not on the map. There had been a lot of raining for several days ending in the night before our walk. All the streams were big and required taking off the boots. Rejean said thsi part is technically not possible in the spring because of the water level. Then we took the Owl's Head path which was indicated by a little cairn on the ground. the cairn is disasembled regularly by the rangers as it is not allowed. Not much to see on top of owl's head, a bit difficult to climb because of loose rocks. Took care of a huy met on the slope who injured his hand. Came back on the Lincoln Brook trail but bushwack from the Licoln brook trail to the Black Pond trail to avoid making the difficult water crossings mentioned before. Not sur we saved time though because our bushwack swayed to the west of black pond trail and we had to make a crook to the east to reach the trail, plus the hiking was musch slower in the bushwack. All in all a marvelous day with 3 very nice persons.
