Ascent Trip Report

From US Hwy 93, mile marker 6, turn northeast (right) on Black Joe Mine Road (you won't see this name until you drive a little ways). I drove about 1/2 mile until I came to a steep hill where the road got rough. I have a truck camper so decided to park at the bottom of that hill. From there I walked the road about 2 miles to the dead end spur going left and followed Dennis Poulin's directions - cross the wash and go up the ridge, there is a faint use path in places. You can go around some of the minor peaks or over them depending on your preference, I didn't follow the exact same route on the way down. Sometimes it seemed easier to stay on the ridge rather than to traverse around the peaks on the way down. It took me 2:24 going up, spent about 30 minutes on top and 1:55 coming down. The GPS showed .4 miles shorter coming down, but that seems strange, the route didn't seem that much different.

It was a beautiful day with great views from the top.
