Ascent Trip Report

Parking near Androscoggin Ranger Station. Started off on the Stony Brook trail. Difficult ot find the path on the other side of the brook where the path crosses it the first time. Then took the Carter-Moriah trail towards Mt Moriah. Then came back on same trail towards Imp Mtn. From that point on, no one was on the trail, totally alone. My parthner and I were alone (I don't remember my partner"s name. Was a PeakBagger from FousdeRando who did the 115 twice. On the way to Im Mtn, did a detour to the deserted Imp Campsite for the winter. Saw a nice wooden chair, sculpted, at the lean-to in the Imp camp site. Then once more took the Carter-Moriah trail. The climb to the North Carter mtn was very steep with ice that was very hard and very slippery. The spikes could not bite into the ice and since the slope was steep I fell and slid 10 feet before I could stop it. Very slippery, had to do some bushwack in the slope to avoid the ice. Very tricky. Then to Middle Carter Mtn where there was a lot of moose tracks. We followed the Carter-Moriah trail to the South Carter than took the Carter Dome trail. We took off our spikes but regretted it, many spots were icy and slippery with plenty of big rocks around for you to break your neck. We then took the Nineteen miles brook trail towards the parking were my partner's car was parked to take us back to the parking near Androscoggin. We started off at 9:30 and finished at 17:00. Exhausted but very happy :-)
