Ascent Trip ReportDrove in the night before and camped at the campground near Coe Ranch Headquarters. Twenty dollars per night, or an 8 dollar day use fee if coming in just for the day. Hiked the Monument trail to the Hobbs Road trail (really just an old jeep road). Hobbs Road trail drops down to Frog Lake, then over a ridge where it takes a big drop into the Middle Fork of Coyote Creek (4 miles from Coe Ranch). This is followed by a steep climb to Blue Ridge (5.4 miles from Coe Ranch). Once on the Blue Ridge, followed Blue Ridge Road trail 1.1 miles to suumit of Mt. Sizer. Good views almost all around. Although Coe Ranch is only 600 feet lower than Mt. Sizer, the ups and downs added up to 2700 ft of gain to get tot the summit (2100 ft on the way back). An enjoyable hike with sightings of mule deer, turkeys and California newts.
