Ascent Trip Report

This turned into an interesting walk along a road. I was hiking the Victory section of the Ozark trail as a two day backpack trip with another friend and noted that our camping spot was near the Butler county highpoint, so we decided to walk up there in the evening. As soon as we crossed onto the road from the campsite a couple of dogs came running up sounding the alarm from the nearest house. The owner came out yelling at his dogs, and after I greeted him with a hello, I noted that he had his handgun out, ready for action. Fortunately, he wasn't pointing it at us. The next neighbor up the road was a bit more friendly, asking if our car had broken down. I guess not too many people walk the road out there. Along the way to the highpoint there is also a pottery art center, with friendlier dogs.
