Ascent Trip Report

Silver Fish Road starts off as usable, but detiorates to be very difficult to follow. I do not recommend taking this route.

Instead, follow Bob Burd's route up to Pt. 2,214. The use trail to this point is very steep, but easy to follow and not at all overgrown. From Pt. 2,214, leave Bob Burd's route, and make sure you locate Silver Fish Road (which at this point is pretty overgrown, but there is a use trail down the middle of the flat roadbed that is fairly easy to follow). Follow the road to where it meets a saddle at the base of Silver Mountain and follow the ridge to the summit.

On the way up, we tried to follow Silver Fish road all the way from Hwy. 39 to the saddle, but lost the road and became mired in a horrendous bushwhack. We crawled on hands and knees and just generally got our bodies shredded. We even ran across a (luckily) abandoned pot farm and camp hidden in the brush.

We descended the route described at the beginning and it was much more pleasant. Definitely the best way to go!
