Ascent Trip Report

I started the hike with Bob Packard, Dennis Poulin, Ken Jones, Andy Martin, Jim Retemeyer, Shane Smith and Daryn Dodge which is a who's who of prominence peakbaggers. Unfortunately, my lack of conditioning slowed me down to where I was slowing my group down and after about 1400 feet of steep stair climbing type terrain, I made the difficult choice of letting them go on ahead. Had I had another hour, I feel sure I would have made the summit but our group didn't have that hour since a indoctrination of Ft. Irwin rules took about 90 minutes of our time before we could even begin the hike. We had to be off the mountain before dark so that 90 minutes was big for me.

It was great to meet all of the guys I hadn't met before and to at least hike with them for awhile. I had done Ord Mountain the day before and had covered the 2000' of gain and 5.5 miles in good time but it may have cost me getting this peak with the group.
