Ascent Trip Report

Were supposed to have 2 mtn bikes but unable to reach a friend to borrow hers and thus we only used mine; my pack was filled to brim and then I rode/pushed to the end of logging rds on S Twin's W Ridge; we made way across snow and through open forest to snow slopes coming off proper W ridge; mixed travel along the narrow and fairly exposed ridge was terrific; scrambling to notch below summit pyramid along snow-plastered ridge making it more challenging than it otherwise would be; this took a long time and we decided to return home as climbing on summit was expected to be 2 pitches to moderate class 5 with an unknown descent down the S side; roped up already for 2-3 pitches along ridge where our last pitch of the day was a III-, 5.4 mixed section (I remember harsh exposure over N side, lousy pro, and no axe); we got down in fading daylight using the 1 bike as a 'cart' for the packs; no summit but a tremendous alpine outing for sure
