Ascent Trip Report

I approached Cotton BM from the west. I came in on Coal Canyon Road and about 2 miles east of the converted railroad car used as a water storage tank for cattle, I turned north on a lesser 4WD road. I followed this road about a mile and then turned east on a lesser road that goes southeast towards the peak. On my topo, it shows this road as 4WD, but it is just a cow path across the desert. I followed this cow path about 1.8 miles towards the peak and then parked where my GPS track started at 5,400 ft elevation. This last part of the road would be impassable if wet.

For the hike, I followed the west ridge to the summit. There were pathces of snow on the steep slope, but the footing was good all the way to the summit. Lots of dead down pine trees along the route and I had to find my around and through these obstacles. Nice hike and great views. There is a small microwave repeater near the summit that must have been placed by helicopter.
