Ascent Trip ReportI decided to hike Mt. Kearsarge, but I was limited on time, so I hiked up the Rollins Trail.
10/21/12 was the last day that the park was open for the season. I drove up the scenic auto road to the upper parking lot, checked out the views, and then got going on the Rollins Trail.
The trail was very muddy in the beginning, but the mud cleared a little on the upper reaches. About halfway up, it got a little rocky and there was a ledge to the left with great views. I looked at it a little and continued to the summit.
The trail went left around a ledge, ascended a little, and then intersected with the Lincoln Trail. I stayed on the Rollins Trail up some ledges to the summit.
Kearsarge's summit had great views, but it was quite windy and somewhat overcast. I looked around at what was visible, took a drink of water, stuck around for a bit, and then headed back down to the lot.
