Ascent Trip ReportUsed Bob Sumner's Nevada county high points book to get to the trailhead south of Daggett Pass. The directions worked well except for changes needed at the beginning of the hike portion. The trail under the ski lift Bob indicates to use is now closed. I missed the new trailhead in the early morning before it was fully daylight. The trailhead is marked by a large trailhead sign just off the parking lot. I had parked practically in front of it! Apparently, one hikes up the hill on the Tahoe Rim Trail to the right and eventually can join Bob Sumner's route on dirt access roads. There were at least 3 places where I could see the Tahoe Rim trail from the access road I was hiking on, as it paralleled the road very closely for part of the way.
Hiked up the minor bonus peak (Boulder Point) on the way down that Bob lists in his book. A more interesting bonus peak is Monument Peak, which is very prominent from East Peak Lake. I'll have to come back some day and hike up that one.
