Ascent Trip Report

Cynthia and I took the Fishermans bushwhack instead of black pond. We found it pretty easy and straight forward to follow the heard path which closely parallels the water. The ascent of the slide was pretty easy and before we knew it we were on top. Start time just after 7:20am and we had the summit at 11:39am. Leaving the summit we were commenting on all the herd paths and the need for a single easy to find trail. Somehow we got turned around and were unsure of where we were. We turned around twice and then ended up back at the summit. We pulled out the map and compass and made a plan. We started to bushwhackin the correct direction. The thought now is that we crossed the top of the slide and were actually to the right of the slide but thought we were to the left so we kept angling left and down and somehow ended up with Bondcliff in site. We ended up bushwhacking the east side of the mountain and coming out on the Franconia Brook Trail after a bootless very cold river crossing. Thanks to Cynthia for holding it together and knowing where we were (kinda). Hugs and we were back on the trail. *Happy Ending* This officially finished my fourth round of the 48!
