Ascent Trip Report

Successful goal of standing on summit for my 50th Birthday! Was pushed off this mountain due to harsh weather in 1990. Began at Climbing center near Paradise Inn after paying $43 per climber for annual permit. Slow acclimatizing hike to Muir Hut 10am to 5pm. Had entire Muir Hut to ourselves (myself and climbing partner Dr. Ron Cloud). Dinner and melting snow for water until 11pm (MSR whisperlight stove was working nominally - mistake not bringing my MSR XGK EX stove). 1hour rest then prep for climb at midnight. Head off again at 1:30am via Disappointment Cleaver (got off route in the dark) and hit summit before 11am. Return to Muir Hut at 5pm (met UCLA co-worker Albin Gritsch, MD at hut on his way up), rearranged gear and headed off down mountain at 6pm making back to Paradise Inn at midnight.
