Ascent Trip ReportThere is no easy way to get to Glacier Lake. From Spectacle Lake (in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness), there is a nominal trail around the south side of the lake. However, we had to bush-whack most of the way because the trail was either overgrown or impassible. There are two creeks that drain into Spectacle Lake from the southwest. The southernmost creek comes from the Park Lakes Basin, and it was dry. The westernmost creek is overgrown at the mouth, but is much wider twenty feet or so above the lake. We hiked up this creek on the rocks. About 300' above Spectacle Lake, the creek splits. The way to the left is impassible, and the way to the right is a strenuous rock climb up a 40' waterfall. The views of this creek are amazing and well worth the climb. Glacier Lake is a small lake with a steep rock face going up all the way to the Four Brothers and Chikamin Peak. The lake is absolutely stupendous, but the hike is very strenuous. There is no other reasonable way to get to Glacier Lake other than the creek.
