Ascent Trip Report

Started up Emerald Bay Trail at 11:45 AM with Oscar Balaguer, Rebecca Henry and her friend Mary. Continued with them to West shore of Middle Velma Lakes where the two women decided to remain while Oscar and I did the peak; we left them at 3:50. Oscar started having trouble with his leg part way up and went back to meet us at scheduled (6-7PM) place where the trail crossed the swift creek running into Lower or Upper Velma Lake. I continued on and made the peak at 5:25; starting back cross-country at 5:37 PM. It was an easy and picturesque decent to the South side of Middle Velma Lake, and great views were had along the lake shore too, except it was a bit too much up and down. Found the women at 6:25 just below the stream crossing waiting anxiously. We didn't find Oscar until after we crossed the stream; both had had trouble following the trail back to where we planned to all meet. Starting back about 6:45, we made it to the car at dusk, 8:45 pm.
