Ascent Trip ReportFound an Andy Martin register in a built up cairn along with the central benchmark and a witness marker nearby. The roads were good enough that a Honda Accord type vehicle could handle the forest service road that comes from the highway 191 to the east but with a high clearance vehicle, you can get within a hundred feet of the top.
It was about a mile to the Avintaquin campground (not signed on highway 191 so study your benchmark mapbook) and then almost another 8 miles to the vacinity of Indian Head peak. Watch for a rough track that heads up on the west side and that road gets you even closer or is easy enough to just hike up the hill from the forest service road (FR 147)
