Ascent Trip Report

NOTE-There's an easier route in which takes you closer to the peak, but this is how I got in before such directions were available. Entering Plumas National Forest just past Challenge on Hwy E-21; at 10.4 miles: pass the Plumas National Forest Fire Station on left; at 11.9 miles turn right away from signed road leading to Sly Creek Reservoir. Take this Forest Service Road 04 going to 13.4 miles and then continuing straight on the paved road onto Road 35. At 18.0 miles, pass a signed Brushy Creek not going on the dirt road up the creek to the left. Continue on the paved road past a sign for Rock Creek turnoff to the right at 19.3 miles, a marker that implies you reenter the National Forest at 20.8 miles, and at 22.8 miles, a cross-road with Marin Ranch to left and Big Oak Flat to right. Turn off the paved road to the left at 23.2 miles where a wooden sign without an interior (it probably said Union Hill) is on the right side of the road. Park and walk up this road generally southwest to its high point, go cross-country northward up to the top of a small bump and meet a fresh logging road just past it which follows the ridge to the base of the high point after a half mile walk. It's then only 200' up to the top.
