Ascent Trip Report

There was some confusion in identifying this peak as the Yolo County High Point. I along with other COHPers, believed it to be Berryessa Peak, so I'd clmibed Berryessa in April 1991. However, Dinesh Desai subsequently identified another higher point in Yolo County, which he'd called Langs Peak. That got me looking at maps, which led to me finding this still higher peaklet on Little Blue Ridge. Hence, a few of us COHPers got together to do this climb.

We started at 10 am after retrieving register from "Lang Peak," which Denish and BillH had placed on a prior trip -- I can't find this peak now but recall parking off Rayhouse Road on the way in. After some route-finding problems on the 4x4 road we took from Rayhouse Road, we had to cross some light brush to get to a grassy swale from the Lake/Yolo County Line dirt road. When we got back on a better road and began to climb up to a ridge, we followed some very primitive ?fire? roads east to the saddle just below the peak. Denesh, Bill, and I went off directly up the peak which had some moderate brush but looked better than taking the road part way and doing the north-facing brush. The rest got up there a bit before me, however, as there actually was a road up the north ridge to the high point. I built a rock cairne and we put in a register after we all signed in. We climbed Butte Rock (~3000') on the way back.
