Les Cornettes de Bise, 2432m, P1061m
Map: 1:25k: 3528ET
Stats: 1215mH, 8km.
Time: 3 Sep 06, ascent 2:40, descent 1:20.
Start: from S, car park 2km N of la Chapelle d’Abondance
Route: mapped waymarked route via Pas de la Bosse. Descent ESE by good path initially unmapped then joining mapped marked path via La Calaz and Col de Verne (Vernaz).
Difficulties: some scrambling above Pas de la Bosse, including an exposed level traverse above a fair drop. Descent via Col de Verne is simple, albeit steep in places.
Trig point: 15cm granite block, X on top marked red, also red + on nearby rock. Larger pillar with lettering F1891 and S83 on sides, is presumably a boundary marker; very similar pillar on Col de Verne.
Notes: Fine complex mountain, fine views, albeit hazy with lowish cloud affecting 4000ers. Route via Col de Verne much the easiest; all the parties seen were on that route, but Pas de la Bosse route much more
