Ascent Trip Report

This was the forth day of a 6 day backpack to climb five peaks on the SPS list, and Barbara, Jim and I day hiked Mount Ruskin via its class 3-4 east ridge route. From the John Muir Trail, our group climbed up to Lake 11520' (3500 meters)located southeast of the peak, then made our way onto the peak's east ridge. Once on the route, Barbara wanted a belay to get around a large, class 4 granite boulder, but all we had was a nylon parachute cord, so we doubled it up, tied her in and belayed her up; she made it ok, but the four letter words were really flying out of her mouth! Please see my 08-13-1990 Split Mountain trip report for trip stats and info.
