Ascent of Mount Shasta on 2011-07-02Others in Party: | John Fisanotti
| Date: | Saturday, July 2, 2011 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Mount Shasta | Location: | USA-California | Elevation: | 14162 ft / 4316 m |
Ascent Trip ReportThis was done as a three day backpack, with John and I staying at Horse Camp for two nights and day hiking the peak from there. Starting from camp at 1:00 a.m., the ascent required an ice ax and crampons all the way to the top. The decent, on the other hand, involved a long glissade down soft snow down Avalanche Gulch. Also, we climbed Misery Hill on the way to Mount Shasta.
