Ascent Trip Report

Mounties trip led by Jan via the Easton Glacier route.

Met at 65th P&R at 6am on Saturday. Got permits at ranger station in Sedro Woolley at about 8am and then drove to the TH at 3,360'. We started hiking a little after 9am and got to camp at 6,700' about 2pm. Beautiful camping spot with spactular view of Baker, the Deming Glacier, Easton Glacier, South to Rainier, Sloan, Glacier and 1000's of other peaks. We had an early dinner and went to sleep at about 9pm.

Up at 1am and started climbing at 2am. We encountered a handful of crevasses on the route but only one required significant attention to the positioning of the rope team. We made the crater at about 6am and made the summit at 7:30am. We had the summit to ourselves for about 20 minutes and then other teams started arriving from the Easton route, the North Ridge route and the Coleman/Demming Route.

At about 8am we started down and made it back to camp at 11:20am. We packed up camp and made it back to the cars at 4pm.

A very enjoyable trip with a strong group and good team dynamics.
