Ascent Trip Report

A perfect morning to climb: high clouds for shade and very light winds. Definitely a trail for an early morning start. Didn't get into sun until very near the ridge. Unobstructed views from Mts Adams & St Helens to the south and Mt Stuart to the north. Mt Rainier was cloud free til 1030am. Mt Hood should have been just left of Adams, but it was too hazy to see 100 miles. Trail is in good shape. A few small patches of snow before topping Nelson Ridge, one required a 8-foot steparound. Large snowfield just past the ridgecrest required a 40-foot upclimb on loose rock.
