Ascent Trip Report11th ADK Peak! Our ascent to Gothics was via Pyramid Peak. Many people speak of the steepness and slides of Gothics requiring large fixed cables and ladders to reach the summit. As we ascended Gothics via Pyramid Peak, we did not encounter any cables or ladders. We were required to climbed up a few ladders on our hike down from Armstrong. The hike from Pyramid Peak over to Gothics was initially steep, followed by a leveled, somewhat wooded/vegetation covered area. The descent and ascent between the two was quick. We met four hikers from Pennsylvania headed that way as well. Three were 46'ers who were accompanying another aspiring 46'er. The summit of Gothics was open, large and expansive, providing a 360 degree view. It also provided some great views of the Great Range. A benchmark was found on the summit. The view of Gothics was great, however when the three men from PA suddenly began talking loudly on their cell phones, I found myself wanting to climb back over to the peace and tranquility of Pyramid Peak. Instead we headed toward Armstrong.
Highlights: Finding summit, realizing Pyramid Peak was Pyramid Peak and not Gothics, Great 360 degree views. Moving ahead on peak adrenaline.
