Ascent of Black Mountain on 2012-06-30| Date: | Saturday, June 30, 2012 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Black Mountain | | Location: | USA-New York | | Elevation: | 2640 ft / 804 m |
Ascent Trip ReportPerfect summer day for a hike. Breathtaking views from the summit of the northern half of Lake George. Good views of the central Adirondacks (to the west and north) and of Vermont and Lake Champlain (to the east). Also took a sidetrip (2.0 mi RT) to Lapham Pond. First 3/5 of the climb was pretty straightforward; last 2/5 was moderately steep. The footing was tricky at times as the trail is very rocky, as many LG area trails are.
