Ascent Trip ReportThis is a great trip. This was my first mountain and I've hiked it three times already. The view from the summit is amazing. You can see Chazy Lake and Lake Champlain on a clear enough day. The Adirondacks to the south are also seen very clearly from the summit. There are two trails on this mountain. One is a clearly maintained trail and the other is an old stream bed that is much rockier and more difficult to climb. My first two trips up the mountain I used the old stream-bed. For this trip we decided to try out the new trail which takes longer but is much more scenic and easier on the knees. We encountered more wildlife on the maintained trail than I've seen on my previous two trips combined. This is a great trail for families and beginning hikers.
